Meet Magento UK 2019 is just a few short days away, and we wanted to celebrate the run-up to the event by talking to our Gold Sponsor, Paypal.
We hear from Jess Tinker, PayPal Partnerships for PayPal UK, on the companies ethos, their Mobile Optimisation Initiative, and how they pair with Magento to offer merchants what they need.
1. Can you tell us about your company, your services, or your products?
Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy.
Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 277 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid.
Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom, enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.
2. What is your company ethos?
At PayPal, it is our duty and privilege to be Customer Champions. We have a fundamental commitment to put our customers at the center of everything we do.
As a leader in Financial Technology, we believe in providing simple, affordable, secure and reliable financial services and digital payments that enable the hopes, dreams and ambitions of millions of people around the world.
3. How do you feel that your company fits into the wider Magento community?
PayPal is a Premier Partner of Magento. Together, Magento and PayPal give merchants and customers what they need – payment technology that integrates seamlessly into their online storefronts with a wide range of payment options.
As it relates to the community, we launched the Mobile eCommerce Optimization Initiative in 2018 – a Magento Community Initiative made possible through a collaboration between PayPal, HiConversion, and a community of Magento SIs from around the world. The goal of the Initiative is to close the gap between mobile and desktop conversion performance and ultimately grow mCommerce revenue for merchants. This initiative fuels our thought leadership at events and gives us the opportunity to share insights, data and best practices to the broader community.
4. What do you think are the benefits of sponsoring an event like Meet Magento UK?
It’s critical for our team at PayPal to continually engage with the Magento community at events around the world. It’s important to leverage the expertise of agencies, developers and tech partners in-market to ensure we are addressing the needs of merchants and consumers, locally.
5. How did you get involved with sponsoring MM19UK?
As a Magento Premier Partner and Presenting sponsor of MagentoLive UK for many years, sponsoring MMUK was never a question. One meeting with Jamie and the team at JH and we knew MMUK would be a perfect continuation of the former MLUK’s as a localised forum to support, engage and learn from the Magento Community in the UK.
6. What do you think makes the Magento community so unique?
The diversity, dedication and camaraderie amongst the broader Magento community is very special. Working and innovating together allows the Magento brand to thrive and stay ahead of the competition.
7. Why should merchants attend Meet Magento UK 2019?
What better way to learn about what’s happening in eCommerce, connect with industry experts and discover new ways to grow your business and network with the Magento Community.
8. Have you got any exciting news, updates, or plans for this year that the Meet Magento UK audience might be interested in hearing?
Rob Long, PayPal Evangelist, is leading a panel at MM19UK – “Convert More Mobile Visitors to Buyers: Surprising Findings from a Magento Community Study.”
Rob and the panellists will review 7 surprising findings from the Mobile Optimization Initiative – focused on the reality that consumers are spending more of their time on mobile than on any other device, yet that additional time is not translating to more mobile revenue for merchants. The team will be sharing what is working now to increase mobile revenue from over 120 experiments…and how you can get involved.
9. Why should attendees visit you in the Sponsor Marketplace on June 19th?
We look forward to engaging attendees to share best practices around optimising checkout, increasing revenue and delivering seamless customer experiences – whether you are a developer, System Integrator or merchant.
